Which cars will be presented when this year? We have all the dates in our big overview

In 2025, the automotive world will be trying to put the past year behind it, with its crises, plummeting sales, electric cars that failed to take off and factories that were not always running at full capacity. The cure includes the launch of many new products, many of them electric, but not solely. Combustion engines will continue to have their say, usually accompanied by various degrees of electrification.

A look at the calendar of new car launches in 2025 reveals a wealth of models, some of which were presented in 2024 and will soon be in dealerships, while others have yet to be unveiled. So here are all the new cars that will be launched in the next 12 months.

The year 2025 begins with the launch of the Abarth 600e, the most powerful road car ever produced by the Italian sports division. With 280 PS – fully electric – it shares its platform and powertrain with the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce and the Lancia Ypsilon HF (also expected for 2025). The new Citroën C3 Aircross, the redesigned C4 and C4 X, the C3 Hybrid and the new Ford Capri will also be arriving at dealerships at the beginning of the year.

Of course, there is no shortage of Chinese brands, especially BYD, which will officially start marketing the Sealion 7 in January and present the Atto 2, a compact electric crossover that will be assembled at the company’s Hungarian plant from the end of the year, at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show.

As already mentioned, electricity will play a major role in 2025, even in small hatchbacks such as the Alpine A290, the sportiest version of the Renault 5, which is available with two power levels: 180 and 220 PS, always and exclusively with front-wheel drive. Even smaller is the Hyundai Inster, the city crossover (it is around 3.80 metres long) with record-breaking space.

The Audi A6 e-tron, the electric super saloon with four rings, and the Volkswagen Tayron, a seven-seater SUV that replaces the Tiguan Allspace, are a completely different size. The Chinese crossover Omoda 5 with LPG drive will also be launched, completing the range that currently consists of petrol and electric versions.

March 2025 will see the launch of the Fiat Grande Panda, which was unveiled in July 2024 and then took much longer than expected. The largest Panda ever – until the arrival of the Giga Panda, which is expected at the end of 2025 – is closely related to the Citroën C3 and, like the latter, is available with both electric and petrol engines. It has a completely new design and is expected to be available at an entry-level price of less than £17,000 for the hybrid version and £21,000 for the electric drive.

The Ford Puma Gen-E, an electric version of the SUV, will also be on the list, as will the Audi Q6 e-tron Sportback, the German mid-size coupé SUV. Also eagerly awaited are the new Q5, one of the brand’s most popular models, and the new Mercedes CLA, which is due to be launched in the spring, as well as the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider, which can be ordered in time for the start of summer.

The wait for the BYD Seagull should be over in April 2025. That’s when the small Chinese electric car will officially be in dealerships. Perhaps with a new name. With a length of 3.78 metres, it will certainly be competitively priced, even if the price list has not yet been officially announced. In contrast, we know the prices of the Dacia Bigster, the SUV positioned above the Duster and starting at £24,995.

The successor to the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, which is powered by a plug-in drive with a twin-turbo V8 at its heart, could be launched in April.

Before the presentation of the Gamma, which will be launched in 2026, the Lancia Ypsilon HF will be presented in 2025 as a small electric car with 280 PS and front-wheel drive, combined with various technical modifications to increase sportiness. The new edition of the Skoda Enyaq, also as a coupé, with an increased range of 370 miles, and the smart #5 are due to arrive at dealerships in May.

The Volvo EX30 Cross Country, which was launched over a year ago, will expand the range of the Swedish compact SUV and give it a more off-road-capable look. The Audi A7, which is available as a saloon (Sportback) and estate (Avant), is completely new. This model also follows the company’s new nomenclature: even numbers for the electrics, odd numbers for the combustion engines.

Finally, the Volkswagen ID.2, the long-awaited electric counterpart to the Polo. Derived from the ID.2all concept presented in 2023 and based on the front-wheel drive version of the VW Group’s MEB platform, it should finally be an affordable Volkswagen again.

DS’s new stylistic course began with the N°8, an electric fastback (at least initially) based on the STLA Medium platform and produced at the Stellantis plant in Melfi. The counterpart – in terms of size and philosophy – is the Citroën Ami Restyling, a successful electric vehicle whose facelift version will be launched in the summer.

Also electric is the new Renault 4 E-Tech Electric, a 4.17 metre long crossover that takes the style of the cult car and transports it into the 21st century. The new Nissan Leaf, a compact electric crossover with a range of up to 311 miles, will also be unveiled in the same month

July should be the right month for the presentation of the European version of the new Tesla Model Y, presented in China in January. It is codenamed Juniper and will share the innovations already shown on the redesigned Model 3 in early 2024. It will retain the same powertrains as the current generation, but with some efficiency improvements.

Another major electric innovation planned for the summer is the Mazda6e, an almost 5 metre long saloon that promises a range of around 343 miles. As with the MX-30, there will also be a version with a range extender to extend the range. The new generation of the best-selling Audi Q3, on the other hand, will be powered by both a combustion engine and an electric motor and is set to make its debut in July before arriving at dealerships in October 2025.

The Suzuki Vitara, the company’s first fully electric model developed in collaboration with Toyota, is due to arrive at dealerships in late summer. With a length of 4.28 metres, it promises a maximum range of 250 miles. In the same month, sales of the redesigned Kia Sportage are also set to begin, featuring a revised look, an even more technological interior and a wide range of engines, from classic petrol engines to plug-in units.

The Volvo ES90, the Swedish company’s electric flagship, and the new electric compact SUV from Mitsubishi will also find their place.

Less than a year after the presentation of the concept, the new Citroën C5 Aircross, based on the Stellantis STLA Medium platform and available with electric and electrified powertrains, will be unveiled in September 2025. Its dimensions will grow considerably (it could reach around 4.60 metres), as will its space and technology.

The debut of the new Nissan Micra, based on the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric platform and therefore only available in an electric version, is also eagerly awaited. Also worth mentioning are the premieres of the successor to the Ferrari Roma, the Kia EV4, as well as the facelift of the Honda Civic and the Seat Ibiza, which is also available with hybrid drive for the first time.

The redesigned Seat Arona will be launched in early autumn, following the layout of the Ibiza and representing a kind of rebirth for the Spanish brand.  The BYD Seal 06, a compact car powered by a 1.5-litre full hybrid with 163 or 218 PS, will also be a hybrid. The 296 Versione Speciale could make its debut at the Finali Mondiali Ferrari (21 to 26 October 2025), with a sharper look and even more power.

The new, completely redesigned Alfa Romeo Stelvio should be very interesting. Based on the STLA Large platform, it will be electric (a hybrid version will follow later) and have completely new styling. The top model, the Quadrifoglio, could reach the 1,000 PS mark.

The end of the year is approaching, with some manufacturers likely to have reserved their best for the last few months. Such is the case with the new BMW iX3, an electric SUV that introduces the Neue Klasse platform, which will be the basis for all of the brand’s future electric cars. In Germany, we are awaiting the presentations of the new Volkswagen T-Roc, which is also available with electrified engines for the first time, and the new Toyota RAV4. Another model is the new Fiat 500 Hybrid, called Torino, which is based on the electric car and is powered by the 1.0 mild hybrid of the Panda.

The Fiat Giga Panda teaser

The new Jeep Compass, the teaser

Speaking of the Panda, the Giga Panda (or Multipla, the final name has yet to be announced), a compact SUV with various powertrains (including electric, hybrid and thermal engines) and space for seven passengers, is due to be launched in November. Another important market launch will be the new generation of the Jeep Compass, which is produced in Melfi and is mechanically closely related to the C5 Aircross. November could also see the launch of the new Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman, which will bid farewell to combustion engines and become 100% electric sports cars. Just like the Maserati MC20 Folgore, which is now coming after several postponements. The new Honda Prelude, the rebirth of the legendary Japanese coupé, will be a hybrid.

The main debut of the last month of 2025 will be the electric Porsche Cayenne, which will not take the place of the combustion engine, but will flank it for a few years. Its direct competitor, the electric Porsche Cayenne, which was announced some time ago in various teasers, is also likely to appear in the same period.

By 31 December, we could then see the final version of the new Renault Twingo or the next generation of the Clio, models that will be launched in 2026. The electric Jeep Recon is also expected to be presented, which will not lack the off-road capabilities of its traditional brothers, while another electric compact SUV, the Toyota Urban Cruiser, will roll into the showrooms.
