The Ford Transit, Volkswagen Transporter and Farizon SV are the latest vans to achieve Platinum status for independent entities.

Euro NCAP has published the latest safety ratings for new-generation or renewed vans. The Ford Transit, the new Volkswagen Transporter and the new, at least in our part of the world, Farizon SV, a large electric van manufactured by the Chinese company Geely, have won the prestigious platinum rating.

The vans in the Stellantis family (Fiat Scudo, Peugot Expert, Opel Vivaro and Citroën Jumpy) are just one metal below them. With this latest report from the independent body, Ford Pro can boast top marks in all its van segments.

The Ford Transit is therefore the fourth Ford Pro van to be awarded the Platinum safety award by the independent body Euro NCAP and comes after the first platiniums achieved by the Transit Custom, Transit Connect and Transit Courier in 2023.

“Safety is essential for businesses and Euro NCAP’s Platinum rating for the entire Transit family demonstrates Ford Pro’s ongoing commitment to protecting both drivers and cargo.”

It must be said that the Ford Transit had already distinguished itself as one of the best performing vans in terms of safety when Euro NCAP first introduced a new test programme for commercial vehicles in 2020, achieving Gold recognition.

Ford Transit ed E-Transit Model year 2024

This year, Ford Pro tested the new generation Transit using the latest protocols, having added technologies such as Pre-Crash Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist and Intelligent Speed Assist to the standard range of driver assistance systems. The Transit achieved an overall score of 95% with top marks for Driver Safety Monitoring and Lane Keeping Assist.

Ford’s technology also benefited Volkswagen, as its Transporter shares a platform with the American mid-size van. The excellent score obtained by the Chinese Farizon SV van was a pleasant surprise as this ‘all-electric’ van shows that manufacturers from the East can compete on an equal footing with Europe, not only in terms of efficiency, but also in terms of safety.
